Meet Dr. Rosen
Virtual Care with Offices in Walnut Creek, Menlo Park, and in Buckhead, Atlanta, GA
Hi! Thanks so much for visiting. I am a board-certified psychiatrist who has been in practice since 2012, and before that I practiced internal medicine. I treat individuals age 10 and up in an adult setting. I went to Duke University for pre-med (BS psychology) and then Emory University School of Medicine. I did my internal medicine residency at Emory also, was on staff at Emory, and was also in private practice before I went back to my psychiatry residency (State University at Stony Brook, Chief Resident, 2012).
My Approach
I bring the dual training and years of experience treating the breadth and depth of psychiatry. I enjoy helping those who have had treatment-resistant conditions, and have a friendly, kind, and collaborative approach. I know many who come to me are scared, nervous, or feel like you are being dragged there (teens, I see you. and I will hear you). I believe in a least amount of medicine approach, while, when needed, prescribe the outstanding old, and new medications as well as alternative treatments.

FAQs
Where do you practice exactly, and are you in more than one state?
Through Headway I see patients residing in Georgia and California, as well as prior clients in Florida.
Do I have to be seen in person?
If you are not going to get a controlled substance, such as a benzodiazepine or a stimulant for ADHD (for example), then I can do all sessions via secure telepsychiatry. I welcome everyone to be seen in-person if they desire, after the first appointment.
How do you see clients in California and Georgia if the visit is in person?
I am now based in California, in the Bay Area, however, I come to Georgia often, and we will arrange an in-person meeting on set dates at my Atlanta location.
What kinds of issues do you treat?
I manage the breadth and depth of psychiatry. I especially enjoy helping those with ADHD and learning issues, as well as challenging anxiety and depression issues (including OCD and Bipolar Disorder), There is a large place in my heart for those in the LGBTQi community. I am transgender myself, and understand the challenges under the rainbow. And, as a parent of an individual with autism, I am aligned with the issues neurodiverse folks face. But, again, I welcome all individuals 10 and up, with all issues, And, being in California allows me to freely embrace the beauty of all diversity, be it neuro/gender/sexual/ethnic/culture.
It’s my privilege to work with you –all of you.
How often do I need to be seen?
Early on, it is typically more frequent, but ultimately, with most individuals, it is once every 3 to 6 months, depending on the issues and individual.
I believe in fiduciary responsibility to the client. That means, it is my mission to provide care in the least expensive way, and in the most time-efficient way, eliminating unnecessary visits and charges.
What are some important things I need to do for the visit?
Thanks for asking, lol.
Please be on a computer if at all possible, not on your phone. At very least, be on an i-pad or similar device, that is set on the table, with a working camera.
Make sure the microphone works and that your internet service is fast. Ensure the device is charged. e.g if you are using headphones.
Do you run on time?
Why did you have to ask that? I’m joking of course. In the vast majority of cases, we will start on-time or within 10 minutes of your appointment time.
Do know that I do not want to run behind ever, and value your time. But please also understand that if I am behind, there is a serious reason for that. I will do my best to update you via messaging on Headway if I am running late.
Final point: if there are so many issues we may need to manage it in more than one visit, so that we can adequately discuss, diagnose, and provide fully-informed treatment.
Would you tell me your transition story?
Sure, I’m an open book, and I’m happy to discuss. I do believe, however, the focus of our time should be about you.
Do you provide treatment for transgender issues?
Yes, it varies with regard to state law. Let’s discuss this in detail.
If I see you in person, what kind of chocolate do you have in your desk?
Huh., You heard. I typically ensure all chocolate-cravings are well-managed, including milk, dark, and even white chocolate needs. There may be some mint and texture-diversity noted. I welcome all chocolates.
